LINGsCARS - Part 2 of 2 - on July 12th 2011 I gave a Director's Briefing all about my car business and my Chinese fashion business to invited Directors of top Manchester firms organised by Safferey Champness (top Manchester accountants). I shared the stage with Ruth Shearn - Managing Director, RMS PR & Marketing and Jennie Johnson - Chief Executive of Kids Allowed.

Here's what they said:

"Ling has taken the UK's car leasing business by storm. Ling had been running her business LingsCars.com for about five years by the time she appeared on Dragons' Den in February 2007. With an entertaining and spirited pitch that managed to crack smiles on even the most stony of Dragon faces, Ling displayed charm and enthusiasm as well as a truly unique eye for marketing techniques. Her personality and skills led to both Richard Farleigh and Duncan Bannatyne offering to buy equity in her company. Given that Ling was looking for £50,000 in return for a 5% stake and the Dragon's offer was £50,000 for a 40% stake, her immediate response was the now immortalised line "We Chinese eat dragons for breakfast"!

Ling has since diversified into supplying new women's fashion into the Chinese market and when she tested the market earlier this year, she drove her sales up to £50,000 a month with a 15% retained margin, within a very short time. Now that middle-class Chinese women have massive disposable income, Ling will cover how it's possible to export new clothes from the UK to a female market in one of the fastest-growing economies on Earth."
