This song is an excellent explanation of what's going on in the economy today.....people are in deep in debt, thanks to the easy availability of personal credit....a HUGE majority of people today are only 2 or 3 paychecks removed from declaring bankruptcy.....a song that's almost 40 years old now should be back on the charts again - the lyrics of this song are a narration of modern life

Can't find this song anywhere else - it was the theme for 70s CBC consumer affairs show Marketplace. Stompin Tom is a national treasure like Lightfoot and Murray. So many iconic songs and great historical ballads like Martin Hartwell story, Bridge came tumblin' down - who else is going to write about these events? Marvellous - keep postin!
