Rio [Rock Band] 100% Expert Vocals

100% Gold Star performance on Rio by Duran Duran, as it appears in Rock Band for PlayStation 3.

As per the rules of the challenge, the original vocals by Simon LeBon are muted, and my microphone is turned up so the only vocals you hear are my own.

This is a special request from my friend and fellow Rock Band vocalist Mushy2000.

Another tough as nails vocals video for me. I'm normally a low baritone, and LeBon is a high tenor, so I really have to "reach" for those high notes (I actually miss one in this video), and eventually jump into falsetto to nab the highest notes in this song.

My voice is actually pretty raw in this video, as I finally got this take after about 6 hours of on-again-off-again tries as I waited for my voice to recover from each attempt. But the end result seems pretty good, all things considered.

Haha I hate falsetto too. Especially my own falsetto. I hate using it, but I have no choice on Rio unless I want to octave shift it into an unrecognizable mess.

Seee I told you people would love this song :-)... after watching it again how the heck did u not get gold stars?... must be some crazy high cutoff... but yeah amazing job again man :-) this video will get 1000000 Views :-)

Actually I did get gold stars. Rio's just one of those flaky songs that turns gold on the very last phrase. Check the ending score screen and you'll see the gold ones. The gold star cutoff on the song is 190,020 points.

It's because I'm singing the song one and a half octaves outside my normal range. Watch my Toxicity video to hear how low my voice normally is. I'm not really holding my nose, but I AM restricting my airflow in order to keep control over my vocal cords so I can hit these notes that are just waaaaaaaaay out of my singing range.

lol serves me right not watching till the very last second :-)... Did you notice something else weird look at the second to last phrase when you have like 183k... when the phrase is over it doesn't update your score till like a second or two into the next phrase...
