While the Extraction Filter is not ideal for Hard Edged Objects, this Video will show you that the Extraction Filter is far more versatile when utilizing the "SHIFT" Key to allow you to Draw Straight, and Erase with straight lines.

To make a Clean Extraction, choose a brush size
for the Highlighting Tool that allows a nice 60/40
split, with 60% of the Highlight to the outside of
the Extraction Object.

To make quick straight lines with the Highlighter,
press the "SHIFT" Key between Mouse Clicks.

Make sure the Highlighter completely encloses the
Extracted Object, or touches the border of the image
before using the FILL TOOL (Paint Bucket) to select
the Object's Area.

If your preview shows that you made a Clean Extraction?...
Use the CLEANUP TOOL to remove any unwanted areas of
the Image. By pressing the Alt/Option Key while using
the CLEANUP TOOL, it becomes a History Brush to Repair
missing or damaged areas of the Extracted Object.

Use the Edging Tool to create smooth hard lines on the
Extracted Object's border, by keeping the cross hairs
just to the outside of the Object border.

(Avoid using the Edging Tool on Hair, Fur or areas with
a lot of detail, as it will smooth vital details away).

I always recommend making a Duplicate Layer of your
Extracted Object to work with, before you use the Extract
Filter.

--------

The only reason I made this video and instruction is that
almost all of the other examples I found on the web totally
miss out on the CLEANUP and EDGE TOUCHUP TOOL,
completely.

The "SHIFT" Key feature to draw straight lines also makes
this tool and other PAINTING TOOLS in Photoshop a much
faster and easier application to utilize.

Thanks
