This is the first episode of Take Back Talking Points, a long-distance forum of progressives meeting via Internet to talk about politics, current events, social issues, and the media, to be released (hopefully weekly) in a series of videos on YouTube as well as in audio podcast form.

This episode, we'll be talking about torture.

Dick Cheney and Nancy Pelosi lead the players in the torture blame game. Who's to blame for torture, those who ordered torture or those who let them?

Also, Alex calls for the Bush administration, the Obama administration, and the United States Congress to be thrown in jail.

Zach gets Punk'd by Obama.

Additional related links will appear shortly.

And we have a few laughs. I hope you'll enjoy this first episode of our program, and we'll be back with more next week.

  • The people wanted Pelosi to take impeachment off the table?! What?

  • I got the impression during the session and during editing that he meant to say she took impeachment off the table, which (impeachment) is what the people want, not that she took impeachment off the table, which (taking impeachment off the table) is what the people want. ambiguous wording, but that happens sometimes.

  • Uploaded may 27, damn I do sub to too many accounts because I missed this.

    I'm glad I caught Zack's latest upload.

  • continued: I also agree with Zach, and would go a step further: not only is it a brilliant strategic move by Cheney, but also a brilliant move by the corporate media, who are instrumental in getting Cheney on the air in the first place. In terms of US foreign policy, there is virtually NO difference between the parties, and on the domestic issues, they are all in the pockets of Wall Street as well.

  • Excellent discussion, guys !!! - I tend to agree with you here, Capitalocracy, that TOO many people in Congress are implicated, on both sides of the isle, so any sort of investigation will, if it even happens, will simply be another whitewash. As I said in one of own vids awhile back, this is going to open the entire can of worms of American Foreign Policy as a whole, including long-standing clandestine programs conducted via proxy for the last 60 years.

  • It's ok, he already cleared it up for me :P.

  • Agreed :o)

  • Oh ok, thanks for clearing that up.

  • Sorry, I put that poorly. What I meant is that the midterm mandate was to do something about torture, about the various crimes of the Bush Administration. Pelosi taking impeachment off the table as pretty much her first official act was viewed by many as moral abdication.

  • Great job cutting this together, Alex.
