  • Ralph Waldo Emerson-the Leader of the this movement stated that with man and the earth there is not them and us there is only Nature; Man has the place that is within itself which is apart of the universal whole. Nature also has it's place apart of the universal whole. We, humans, with the lack of knowledge and understanding-we have forgotten this. So he is saying be with nature, understand and learn that it is apart of you and you are apart of it. From just interacting with nature you can learn

  • First, the concept of a higher power is fundamental to Transcendentalism. It may not be the Abrahamic conception of deity, but it's a form of deity, nonetheless. Second, Transcendentalism isn't about escapism, but about perceiving reality clearly, and we believe Nature can aid us to do this (while society often clouds it).

  • if you want to be truely happy and conscious of yourself, your energy, your potential, then put yourself to these five steps, only leave out trying to find god. you must know that you yourself have the potential to have god like power(we only use 10% of our brain), know that worshiping a god is not only control to keep us off the track of discovering ourselves, its downright slavery because this christian gods ethics, his rules, his way is shoved down our throats. its encouraged,anopiateofthemas

  • "The strong gods pine for my abode, And pine in vain the sacred Seven;

    But thou, meek lover of the good! Find me, and turn thy back on heaven."

    - Emerson in his poem "Brahma"

    nature is not all good... though God does reveal Himself in nature, it is not, by any means, the only way. Remember that man, too, is part of nature. And by observing men, we see the reality of sin and the need for repentance and atonement, this being met solely through Jesus Christ.

  • man brings order to his chaotic natural environment through technology, buildings, medicine, and all forms of progression. Transcendentalists know why......
