  • do you know how i can attract woodpekers to my garden.

  • It depends where you live tony, as long as you have them nearby i would recommend using a cage feeder full of nuts or putting out suet/fat balls. They often venture into gardens during winter when there is a lact of their usual diet.Well worth having a bird bath as well.

  • if you have a woodpecker coming everyday to your garden is it likely to bring its young too ??? wb thnx

  • Great-sptd Woodpeckers have become a common sight in many gardens across the UK especially when there's peanuts on offer. It's difficult to say if they would bring their young to your garden without knowing the habitat you live in, but it's possible. Look out for both male & female to see if there both visiting. Keep your nut feeders stocked up and keep a fresh supply of water available. They would only bring their young once they've fledged(as in the video) and if it's safe(no cats nearby)

  • Thanks Jennie, Remeber the moto: Feed Them And They Will Come, oh yeah and fresh water certainly helps.

  • Will put a birdbath out soon as you advise, very still hand great vid, we have at least 3, 2 red caps 1 black cap, after hearing them in the woods last 11 years they all arrived one day .Which one is male and female? havent seen them being fed as in your vid so are they all chicks do you think? They all feed on the feeder but one at a time need to get more feeders, as a badger keeps pinching them.
