This is a video of the strange behavior of the speedometer in my '95 Jeep ZJ. It jumps erratically for about the first 40 seconds of driving. I believe it only does this after it's been sitting for a while (like overnight). Also, the needle jumps seem to coincide with every little bump the car goes over. Note that the other gauges function properly. No problems with anything other than the speedo. What could this be? Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

  • check the Vehicle Speed Sensor located on the rear output shaft on the X-Fer case

Thanks a lot! I had been messing around with the VIC before the problem happened. Do you think the VIC could be causing this problem at all? Or is your money on the VSS? I'm thinking it's the VSS. HBU?
