My small homage to the amazing Marantz Model 7 Stereo Console. Designed by Sidney Smith and produced by Saul Marantz in Long Island City, NY. Introduced in December 1958.

This is, in my humble opinion, the greatest and most influential design in hi-fi history.

A rare marriage of technical perfection, industrial design and superlative musicality that has never been equaled!

  • My friend still uses his vintage 7C.

  • @floridafyme I use mine as well. It's a superb preamp that was way ahead of it's time. A benchmark then and now. You would need to spend $10000 or more to approach it today.

  • Pardon my ignorance, but what is this delicious song?

  • @Michaeldair The title is "Boogie Stop Shuffle" and appears on his 1959 release "Mingus Ah Um".

  • Classic Marantz and Fisher equipment are commanding huge prices on the audiophile market these days! And rightly so! Their sound is exquisite, especially with today's hi-res speakers! My old man has a Fisher 500C in mint condition, and it is a joy to listen to it when I visit him on holidays!

  • Totally agree my friend! Before the Marantz I had a 500C and it was sweet.

  • What a great piece of musical gear partnered with equally great music! What else can we want?

  • Dynaco A25's are amazing. Best compact vintage speaker out there, In my opinion.

And yes, Marantz tube is leagues better than the later solid-state stuff made by Superscope.

  • Intresting i diden't know hk was kit stuff back then. I use a newer rotel RB980BX power amp and a HK 730 twin powered reciver ( solid state) as the pre amp. Intresting enough i have a pair of dynaco A25s and a pair of BW 630 i's and the dynacos give a much better sound, by leaps and bounds better. though the BWs are worth a lot more money. I also like the dual 1229Q turntable. I bet that marantz tube gear sounds a lot better then later marantz solid state stuff, I'm i correct ?
