Long After Dark is starting to grow on more people these days. It only took one listen for me back in the day to fall in love with it. It's better as a hidden gem, than a watershed record. that way, the hardcore Petty fans like us have something that's still truly ours. And it never gets burnt out like Full Moon Fever did, even though it was a great record too.

as one who was there, his opening comment "you guys don't have to be anywhere" was because it was about 1:30 a.m., capping an amazing day of music that began at about 11 a.m.
