Hey everyone on this episode of Play it Through its Abadox for the NES brought to us by Natsume. Abadox is a unique scrolling shooter on the NES similar to Lifeforce which gives you both horizontal and vertical scrolling levels. You travel inside of a alien planet and destroy it from the inside. Like many shooters it takes a lot of time and memorization to know what is coming ahead to get good at the game. Enjoy!!

  • wow i rember this game i played it as a kid what was with the sprite disapering around the teeth?

  • @semjgandel Due to the sprite flickering that occurs and then capturing the run it causes that to happen I am not sure how to fix it really.

  • How did you learn to no die run this?

Those teeth kept flickering in and out of the picture, did you just try until you got through flawlessly and then finished the rest of the game?

  • @IkeVanDykeLmS This is a all time favorite of mine I got it for xmas when i was young and have played it ever since. Abadox is really not that hard of a scrolling shooter due to it being rather short and the power ups greatly help. If I do die then I am screwed since it is hard to get the power ups again when needed.

  • only way I ever beat this game was using an invincibility code!

    You're a better man than I Corn!

  • They made a harder game. It's Final Mission on famicom.

  • still have this game to this day. decided to blow the dust off it and show it to a friend last Christmas eve and he ended up puking(we were drunk). the reason why the sprites flicker is b/c of the Nes hardware not being able to handle multiple sprites at a time.

  • so hard game, man

  • It should be at the top 50 hardest games ever!

  • Love this game.

With this game, as well as other shmups, I tend not to pick up every speed boost that I see. For this game, I usually pick up 2 and then avoid the rest of them. I always have a problem with games like this and Gradius when the speed is too high. I usually end up killing myself a lot. Lol.

I think it's down to the framerate you record at, if it doesn't match the source video you'll end up losing frames.

Say if it plays at 60FPS and you record at 30FPS, half the frames will be discarded, meaning if something flickers on alternate frames, you'll only pick up the frame where the sprite ir shown, or invisible.

  • this is one of my favorite games. I have only done no deaths once but 2 or three is pretty common. I love your videos man.

  • On the horizontal stages, how your character looks really reminds me of Section Z. Any plans of playing that game?

  • Feeling a little William Shatner there at the beginning?
