A project in collaboration with Tim Collins & Malou Meyenhofer (Lindy Hop India), WWIL, & YUVA Unlimited to teach underprivileged girls from a village on the outskirts of Mumbai, India.
This photo collection is a compilation of the 4 week pilot conducted at Whistling Woods International by teachers Tim Collins & Malou Meyenhofer. At 3pm the bus would leave WWIL Campus and drive to Aarey Milk Colony to pick up the girls. They would gather in the village center, jump on the bus and arrive at WWIL by 3:45. After warming up and playing group games and dance games and learning a Charleston routine, we'd break for lunch. After lunch there would be more dancing until it was time to go at 5:45pm. The kids were amazing and after 4 weeks became as attached to us as we were to them. They yell our names when they see us, give us high fives, and show their moves.
We are looking for support to continue the project into 2009. With the recent attacks in Mumbai, and the developing political situation, it is more essential than ever to bring these girls some unconditional support and love.
