To continue travelling north on A1A from the area of US Naval Station Mayport, on the eastern edge of Jacksonville, I would have to use the St. Johns River Ferry, also called the Mayport Ferry, which is the only remaining public auto ferry in Florida. Part of scenic route A1A, the ferry transports cars and pedestrians across the St. Johns River between the coastal Jacksonville neighbourhoods of Mayport Village and Ft. George Island. This flick consists of my going north and back south from my trip to Kingsland, Georgia (right across the Florida - Georgia Border). Information on the Mayport Ferry comes primarily from Virtual Tourist: http://www.virtualtourist.com/travel/North_America/United_States_of_America/F...

  • Did you get to meet "BJ"? He is an icon on the boat. I wouldn't ride the ferry if he wasn't working!
