  • Hi Davie, Love the vids, which kamasan hook are you using here? I want to give the pattern a go. Thanks. G

  • Hi AAAGTE,

B175 or a B170 are both good hooks to use but any good strong hook will do....

  • Davie,

Another excellent fly. I wasn't quite able to catch what kind of wax it was that you used on the thread. Can you tell me where I would be able to find wax like that? I've been using sewing beeswax from the fabric store, but I have found that it's just not quite sticky enough.

    Thanks in advance!

  • Hi IDBackpacker,

I use Veniards Prepared Fly Tyers Wax, I'll send you a link to it...

Happy New Year when it arrives....ATB Davie

  • Hello Davie,

First of all many many thanks for all the videos you post they're not only informative but a joy to watch in themselves and much appreciated by many many people I'm sure.

    A questions if I may.

In the Hare's Ear Nymph tying you say you are using the real tin tinsel, may I ask where you get it from?

    Kind regards,

    Oliver

  • Hi Oliver,

Thank you for the kind words..The tinsel I used came from Veniards but as far as I believe they have stopped selling it, the only other company which I know sells a proper tinsel is Largartun. I have sent you a link to a company that sells it...ATB Davie

  • Hi Dorian,

The three main sizes I use are 3mm, 2.5mm and 2mm beads, these will fit easy on a size 10, 12 and 14 respectively both on a straight and curved hook..

    All the best Davie

  • hello.. you said that along with or in place of using lead wire to weight the fly i could use a bead. I was just wondering what size of a bead or head that i should use? Thanks for the videos , their a great help !! From: Dorian
