Thousands of people in Harlem, New York City, poured out of their homes on November 4, 2008, when it was announced that Barack Obama would be the next President of the United States. One of the most magical and historic days in Harlem... these videos were shot between 11PM and 2AM, along stretches of 125th Street in Central Harlem.
When I see public gatherings like this, it usually results in burned cars and smashed windows. But not this time. So nice to see!

Mario, good job on this video. I'm glad you had a good time out there, definitely an extraordinary atmosphere, like something out of a film. I was as excited as these people, about the prospect of Obama winning, but, after he did, a cloud of cynicism fell over me. He'll have to prove my feelings wrong, in the years to come, something I'm definitely open to.
