Pingu4u, Obama is a what!...a eugenist at heart? Are you a mind reader that you should make such a vicious comment about what's in a man's heart? You claim that some wars are just yet you dismiss decisions made by women about how to proceed with a life that might suffer if brought into the world. What has Government health care got to do with this? I suppose government should do nothing while private insurance companies could get to decide who lives and dies. Sacrilegious! Contradictory!
We know as Catholic's that some wars are just and necessary. I am not saying that of Iraq, I am saying it as a General Statement. Even so... more humans die to abortion in a single year than have died in any war since WWII. Abortion can be stopped... but Obama is a eugenist at heart. He believes in abortion and population reduction. What do you think Government health care is all about. Let the Government decide who lives and dies. We are in for a brave new world my friends. God be with you.
Please see Pingu4u's response in this list of comments; very succinct. By your own arguments Notre Dame shouldn't have given a Ph.D to Bush (went to war) and several other presidents. Seeking truth without examining ourselves as well as the other persons position is what is judgmental. Do you really believe that Obama wants to run around killing innocent babies? Some positions are not that simple to reject with a stroke of a pen.
It is an embarrasment to invite a man who stands for death by the millions. I am sure you take a stronger stance against IRAQ than you do abortion. The life of the unborn are innocent, we cannot make the same statement of all that have died in Iraq. This is not to say that we don't need to protect all life....but by God's name don't you think that unborn innocent life is the most precious spilled blood of all?
we are not to judge, but we are most certainly called to witness the truth and speak the truth. I do not hear the Cardinal judging Obama's salvation, I do hear him speaking to the truth. As a Catholic you should not give co-operation to abortion. Obama not only gives co-operation, but furthers the agenda of the pro-death lobby. Notre Dame will also be Co-Operating in a minor way with Obama and his views by giving him the honor of a degree that is meant to be given for the work a person has done.
Sound assessment of the issue at hand. I would go a bit further and say let's look at the bible as our guide: Romans 2:1 ...you have no excuse, everyone of you who passes judgment, for in that which you judge another, you condemn yourself; for you practice [similar] things. Obama has many points of view that isdifferent than ours but most of all he is our sitting president granted his power from god. See John 8:7
Mr. Murray, you mention personal attacks, yet I do not see any made by His Eminence.
Cardinal George has met with the President already, in person, and "expressed his gratitude for the meeting and his hopes that it will foster fruitful dialogue for the sake of the common good."
However, the President is in many ways a champion against the causes for which we so dearly fight, and thus an inappropriate choice to receive such an honor - a juris doctor (honoris causa) - from Notre Dame.
