The original Broadway production of "How To Succeed..." opened on Oct. 14, 1961 with Robert (Bobby) Morse playing the J. Pierrepont Finch lead in this grand Frank Loesser musical. The idea for this musical was based on a book of the same name by Abe Burrows, Jack Weinstock, and Willie Gilbert. The audio portion of this video is from the film production also starring Bobby Morse, and "I Believe In You" was the most popular song to originate from "How To Succeed...".
It must be hard for revival productions of great musicals when the original absolutely nails it. Bobby Morse IS J. Pierrepont Finch. I must say, Matthew Broderick did a fantastic job. I don't reckon Daniel Radcliffe is much of an actor personally. But they're all just battling for 2nd place behind the great man. I love this show and love RM.

Thanks for posting this great showstopper song (in stereo!). I'm glad Robert Morse is still active on Mad Men. Would love to see the clip of this from the movie, if anyone has it
