  • I like to drive in and about this neighborhood and wonder how such a wonderful place like this fell into neglect. Such a shame; it's all overgrown. If I were king of Youngstown, I'd clean the whole place up. Clear all of the trees, brick the roads, and make it safe again.

And by the way... just what is that song?

  • The song is "Wabash Stomp" by Roy Eldridge And His Orchestra. BTW, I am glad you like the video, and I wish I could wave a magic wand too and clean up the area!

  • Thank you so much for posting this. I remember many of these houses from growing up on the north side.

  • Being a native Northsider, this video really spoke to me. Seeing the areas I used to play in as a kid in a historical setting is very enlightening, and also heartbreaking at the same time. A few of those houses still stand...

  • Maybe Obama will bring back the Steel Mills and everything will ge alright. While he is at it, he can make me 6 years old again and I can walk from Crandall Park to my old house on Park Ave after ice skating with my big sister. Bring back all of those big Christmas lights too, not the eco-friendly tiny blinky ones. Enjoy the memories, they'll also be gone soon.

  • @LosAngeleno1959 A piece of America we will never see again. No more middle class due to the greed by the scum "R's" taking over. Goodbye morality.

  • ah yes the intellectual america well kiss that got bye thankx to the criminal government and the exlusive way they dumb us down they figured out they made us dumb and stupid one side effect was FATNESS BUT THEY SAID OH NO WE MUST CHANGE THAT BUT LEAVE DUMB N STUPID INTACT godbless america classic america that is.....

  • A piece of America we will never see again. No more middle class with the Socialist taking over. Goodbye freedom.

  • I, too, like to drive through this area as often as I can, many times making an excuse as to why I have to go this way ("Hey. The freeway may be out." or "I live in Boardman and work in Niles. Niles is north, right?") lol. But it is just SUCH a nice side of town - even today! Thanks for the video. If anyone is interested, I made one for Mill Creek Park. It's on my Provile.

  • I remember my grandmother taking my brother and I to Crandall Park to feed the ducks and simply enjoy the serenity. I also played in tennis tournaments there on the clay courts. LOVE the video....thanks so much! Also, it was great having "little jazz", Roy Eldridge's band playing throughout. Very classy.

  • Me too! I wish i could "fix" it. I vaguely remember when Youngstown was still alive in the 70s. I love these old homes and neighborhoods. I wish they could be preserved. So rich in history!

  • wat!!!!!!!!!!! People was loud to ice skate at crandall dam thats uh shame how this city is now most of these big ass house u see is earther burn down or foster homes
