Sorry to be so fast, but you're a fucking idiot, Seroster. SCA has NOTHING on Dagorhir nowadays. Lets see the weapon selection in SCA...hmmm.... Big Stick, Short Stick + shield, Long Stick, and my fave, dual Short Sticks. Top that off with some 2x4's and you have yourself a fucking "Medieval" joke.

I so agree with the last comment. But we must be charitable...The actual techniques, shield walls and individual techniques were re-discovered in the 1970`s by the Norse Film & Pageant Society. They had access to historical documents at the British muesum.
They taught it to over 100 other re-enactment groups all over Europe.
The SCA are unable to present proper medieval combat due to costume restrictions, so what they do is close to LARP, with sticks.

Hi, can you tell me where these events are, we are new to the area and want to get back into the game.
-
SCA is Renaissance combat primarily, You must at all times wear heavy, encumbering armor. during the dark ages people rarely wore much armor, generally chain mail and basic leather. This is closer to Dark age combat than SCA, because the weapons have the shape of the ones used back then, (unlike SCA where they use round sticks.) and you can fight without armor. IT is much more inclusive, (anyone rich or poor can play) and more realistic.

You shouldn't judge a book by it's cover. I know
plenty about medieval combat. Ever heard of SCA?

Oooh. I forgot I shook his hand at the end there. I forgot I had manners. :)
Also, Seroster, You dont know anything about medieval combat. So how can you say these guys dont? >:)

Dagorhir is how I remember the SCA 20 years ago...fun!The only thing more intense than the fighting in the SCA is the politics.I don't do SCA anymore,I do Dag.
