Look beyond the headlines. The jobs report released on Friday showed that unemployment persists at 9.6 percent. As high as this number it is, it doesn't tell the whole unemployment story. We do: watch this video to uncover the truth about our jobs situation. More resources below:

@teagar Between 1949 and 1993 we had GATT (General Agreement on Trade and Tariffs). For the last 17 years many countries have taken advantage of America's Free Trade policy. As a result we have lost factories, we have lost millions of jobs, we have had millions of homes forclosed. Under Gatt any Tariff collected is used to pay the National Deficit. The amount of Tariff assessed depends upon the country of orgin, the main thing is, we need to make trade fair for Americans.

@ericejk First off, Trade treaties are negotiated between countries, not between states, not between providences. Tariffs and Regulations have been around for most of America's history, it started with the first continental congress in 1789. For the last 17 (1993) we have had Free Trade, but it has been one way Free Trade for the most part, most other countries have been practicing protectionism on their imports, yet being able to export to the US duty free.

@teagar3 Unfortunately you don't get to see the jobs that are lost when you here when you create barriers and tariffs. Excluding tariffs from other countries that are bound to increase if we increase our tariffs on them. US companies that use materials from from India have to pay more money to get the exact same good or service which kills jobs in America. If you really think tariffs are the answer then why shouldn't we start with states and cities don't putting tariffs on each other?

Looking at the average yearly wage (2009) in US dollars across the world:
United States: $46,400 Russia: $15,200 Mexico: $13,200 Brazil: $10,200 China: $6,500 Indonesia: $4,000 Thailand: $4,000 Philippines’s: 3,300 India: $3,100 Vietnam: $2,900
For the price of one American Worker ($46,400), a US company can hire 14 workers in India, 16 workers in Vietnam, 11 workers in Thailand. Tariffs and Regulations are barriers that prevent this and create jobs here.

Good for them for highlighting the problem.
However, if you "look beyond the headlines" on BankruptingAmerica, you'll find that they're Beltway libertarians linked into the "Kochtopus" (search it).
Their "solution" to the problem would consist of massive immigration, massive "free trade", and in general policies that would only help a few at the expense of everyone else.
For a discussion of one of their earlier, misleading videos, see (remove the spaces around the dot)

Their numbers are actually too low. In up-country Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont that number is more like 20%.
And those are the same people who voted for the fool.
Sad, how very sad.

@AM2prunejuice :-) I do not agree. It just the nature of the beast. All of it is human behavior and not the government.
