Welcome to the first episode! If you already know about the VERY basic parts of the dizi, skip this video and wait for the next episode where I'll discuss about how to place the dimo 笛膜 on the flute.

Rather hear me play flute than talk? Click here to watch my latest flute video:

Reminder: I plan to only upload up to 5 of these tutorial videos. After these 5, I'll still continue doing video blogs, but I'll probably only do a tutorial if I get a request on a certain topic.

Feel free to ask me any questions if you're not sure about something on my videos ^^

  • Thank you. Your tutorial is very helpful. I'm new to dizi and music in general. How do you select which key dizi to purchase. I think in one tutorial you mention that any key flute can play any major. G dizi is more easily play D and A majors. What is the advantage of each key dizi? If I buy a D dizi, which major I can easily play with a D dizi? I'm looking to buy my first dizi, but I don't know which key to select. I'm looking at carrotmusic and easonmusic. Do you have any places to recommend?

  • Great videos many thanks for posting. Do you have a web address for a good place to purchase Dimo and Er Jiao? Many thanks

  • this series should be very useful to help me learn

  • A question: I don't have a dizi, but I was wondering, if you wanna like clean it (inside and out), will it affect the dizi in anyway? Like the sound?

  • Thanks for this great tut. Your dizi tuts help me a lot. Keep up your good work. :-)

  • hey great job do u have a grade?

  • Thank you very much for sharing this information!

    It is much appreciated!

What is a dimo (you mentioned it being on your mokong) in english?

What is the mokong needed for? Probably an air exhaust for flute sound?

  • where is part2?

  • thx.
