Immediate download of Tightrope in your choice of MP3 320, FLAC, or just about any other format you could possibly desire. http://maxplank.bandcamp.com/track/tightrope

Here is a short improvisation, inspired by a beautiful old circus poster I found on the internet. The section with the harmonics is supposed to represent the side-to-side movement that wire-walkers use, to regain their balance.

The mic' was positioned about 6 inches from the guitar's sound-hole, end-on. I have since discovered that the Audio Technica ATR6250 stereo condenser mic' is not a true 'shotgun' design and should be used side-on to get the best results .

Echo & reverb was added in Garageband. Edited in iMovie 6, on my Mac G4 desktop with dual 1.25ghz power-pc processors. Input via Tapco Link.usb A/D converter .Guitar is a Stagg SW206CE electro-acoustic, played 'un-plugged'.

I recorded in a 10' X 10' bedroom which has pretty good acoustics. On headphones, you can hear the ticking of my alarm clock =p

  • Really calming Stu. Makes me feel like I'm cruising through the mountains without a care in the world :)

  • @stewze That's cool. Thx, mate ;]

  • Lovely sound....got a 1969 feel....hear the cosmic echo too....like this alot!

  • @reliablebow Thx very much, Michael. I just can't resist a bit of echo & reverb :]

  • Sounds very good Stu, and I agree is does bring some of the passages of Stairway To Heaven just a bit but it is all original. -Ron

  • @rhopen Hiya, Ron, & thx for stopping-by. I hope you are having a restful Sunday. It always seems uncannily peaceful, here, on Armistice Sunday - it's as if the world holds it's breath and remembers with us.

  • @CharmedQuarkZ99 Thank-you, Richard :] Strangely enough, someone else mentioned Jimmy Page, on my Facebook post of this one. Maybe it's the descending bass line at 0:55 ? It's funny how we can rarely hear our own influences, whilst others can spot them straight-away.

  • @blackturtleshow Thx very much for the feedback. My monitor's speakers are really tinny, so it's good to get an idea of what stuff sounds like on better equipment. Cheers! ;]

  • @KrissCameron Thx for stopping-by :]

  • @duckscli Hi, Duncan! Thx for the feedback. The tinny speakers in my cheapo monitor make it sound ghastly, so it's good to hear that it sounds o.k. on better equipment :] I hope all goes well with your studies, mon brave =p
