The historian and broadcaster spoke to the Bruges Group on a number of issues ranging from the British constitutional and economic crises and the crises of the euro and the European Union. Dr Starkey also talked about the opportunity for the Conservative Party to reach out to the previously excluded white working class

  • Brilliant lecture...in my opinion Cameron needs to attract working class tories like Thatcher did as appose to the liberal middle classes.

  • @chrish12345 Yes, perhaps so. He's no anarchist.

  • @robzrob This seems tautological - he's always been a Tory, which in theory would mean 'small state' in the context of a more nationalist approach. Are you confusing nationalism with statism?

  • I thought he was a libertarian - and he turns out to be a statist.
