IRON MONKEY - Trailer (1993) - Platinum Edition - Donnie Yen, Yu Rong Guang, Yuen Woo Ping

TODAY's upload is a fast paced trailer for Platinum edition DVD release of Hong Kong martial arts adventure - IRON MONKEY. Trailer is in my oppinion nicely done with fine music background and atmospheric voice narration. Movie is worth it - especially if you like martial arts movies in wuxia style and watch the Platinum edition that includes many bonuses and infos about HK cinema and cast. This one is really one of HK LEGENDS :-).

Iron Monkey is a 1993 Hong Kong movie by director and martial arts choreographer Yuen Woo Ping (later become widely famous in the west through his Matrix work). Produced by Tsui Hark.

For this breathtaking epic adventure set in late Ching dynasty, acclaimed action director Yuen Woo-ping combines incredible dynamic, high-flying fight-action and stunning cinematography with a classic wuxia story of courage, honour and sacrifice.

International action superstars Donnie Yen and Yu Rong Kwong give nice performances as two legendary warriors who must put their lives on the line to defeat the barbaric excesses of a corrupt political regime and protect the lives of the people and child who later becomes "The Legend" Wong Fei Hong.

The DVD with many nice bonuses in this Platinum edition is worth seeing. Movie is not as ambitious as ONCE UPON A TIME IN CHINA, including some comedy sequences but avoiding non-sensical sense of humour. Despite its qualities, Iron Monkey was unfortunately a flop at the HK box office.

I honestly love the Hong Kong Legends trailers. They play up every single film they advertise not just as good but as "one of the GREATEST EVER MADE".

I really want to watch this movie now.

it is definitely meant to be action/comedy. This is a great martial arts movie with something for everyone. well choreographed and executed fight scenes, the "robin hood" like plot, romance and comedy. recommended. (Don't watch it on TV though, get the dvd at your library or amazon) Extras are also good on the dvd
