Why do Sagans video attract religious bigots? (believers and atheiest alike).
Sagan has passed away and I don't think it's respectful to have such arguments here, move them to your respective believer/athiest advocacy channel.

RIP Dr Sagan.
We miss you.

Today we hear the Christians lame excuses against stem cell research, contraception and evolution. Ill be my left testicle the arguments to burn down the great library were equally as vacuous.

Thank you Christianity for destroying this. Your destructive self righteousness then is indistinguishable from the creationists movement today.......Today we could be thinking of going to another star let alone the moon or mars :(

Yes there is. IT is a wonderful example of human gullibility and stagnation.

I guess I didn't specify very well.

Christianity is a wonderful religion because of its moral impact on true followers.

People who deviate from what is considered to be the true faith of Christianity ( i.e. those who don't treat others with love, forgiveness and tolerance yet still call themselves Christians) tarnish that good name.

The same can be said of any religion. The human element is what determines the effectiveness of a model religion, but is still separate from what the model is.

Did Joshua treat the canaanites with love, compassion, and tolerance? - According to the bible he raped, murdered, tortured and committed great acts of genocide with Gods Blessing.

Many people throughout history killed, tortured and raped "with God's Blessing."

The same can be said for historic people under non-Christian faiths.

I'm separating the believers from the belief. You are tying them together. While the followers of a religion are meant to reflect the teachings of the faith, I don't believe the faith should be held accountable for the followers.

I believe people should be held responsible for themselves.

As for Joshua, I don't have any specific source to verify whether he did such things or not, but that isn't the focus of my argument and I'm not here to debate it.

What is moral to these people? All Christians can't even agree on what is moral among themselves. The bible is full of contradictions and cannot stand on its own. The human element is inseparable from the model because humans created religion.

People who kill and oppress in the name of God think that THEY'RE the moral ones.
