  • Evanston and Wilmette are pathetic for allowing homeless people to roam the streets and sell newspapers. At least Evanston has programs to get them off the streets slowly, but in Wilmette they just hang around.

  • I live in Wilmette and buy a StreetWise from a homeless person every chance I get - as do many people in Wilmette. I don't think your attitude is representative of North Shore residents.

  • It was.

  • 1700 block of Sherman Ave, just down the street from the Unicorn Cafe.

  • Hey I know that guy!! His name is Breeze or Leroy. I'm friends with him and I always talk with him. He's not one those gang bangers that spends all their money on drugs, he is a nice guy. And he actually has 4 kids that live in st. Paul so he definitely guilty. Cut him some slack.

  • this bum is in front of cvs

    wilmette sucks!!!!!!!

  • @NorthShorePerson

they want to hang them in wheaton!!!

  • Sometimes people do go into Wilmette's greenbay road, but because the Walgreens and Starbucks are great places to sell Streetwise.

When I was a kid I didn't realize people selling them were homeless (I knew about homeless people of course, I'm not dumn). I noticed they seemed down on their luck, but I would buy it with my dad. I haven't run into a person selling Streetwise in much over a year, wonder why?

  • @ChainCh0mp65 He seems REALLY nice!

  • @TheBigBlackNewsBlog Yep, many are and can be wierd. But there are so many who are really down to earth guys. It might not be mental illness on the weird guys, they can be going somewhat delusional from hunger and starvation. I like to give to food shelters. Think how many of these people can eat from one box of pasta, or one can of soup.

  • @TheBigBlackNewsBlog In Philidelphia I once was walking and started having a great conversation with a homeless man. He was a really great guy, and fun to talk to. Some are really easy and will start by saying something about sports or the weather, but some will be hard or ackward to aproach. All I can say is that you might meet one of the guys like this, but you might end up being without a camera. I'd be nervous asking, maybe I'd ask if I can record a few questions after I talk for a bit.
