Ithaca College has two dorms that over look the city. Before New Year's eve they display the year in lights and then at midnight the change the lights to display the New Year. I guess this is Ithaca's version of the Time Square ball.

The first 15 seconds are me adjusting the camera...sorry about that...

  • Dude! They never did this while I was going there.

Though East Tower wrote out "POO" in this same manner one night.

  • They've been doing this for quite a few years now...most of the students are gone for winter break so they never get to see it!

  • Ah, that explains it. Can't believe I didn't think of that.

Guess that's how they got around forcing everyone to be awake and in their Towers rooms at midnight on New Year's. :-P

  • Yeah, it is my understanding (I'm not an IC student so I don't know for sure) that they actually FORCE everyone to leave the towers over winter break. They are only able to pull this off because the towers don't have people living in them (and randomly turning lights on or off each evening).

  • Yeah, all of the dorms are shut down during winter and spring breaks. That's why I never new about this...I've never spent a New Years in Ithaca. :-/
