In an impressive showcase of its exceptional capability, Ford's latest global compact pickup hauled a 160-tonne historic steam locomotive out of its shed in Victoria, Australia. The all-new Ranger was not modified at all for this challenge, relying on the 147 kW of power and 470 Nm of torque from its 3.2-litre, five-cylinder diesel engine. See it to believe it!

  • @miked3502 Most GM and Chrysler products are foreign made (much more so than US made Honda and Toyota products). Most US Ford products (and most of their parts) are made in the US.

  • @Qmann98 1st off. the engine is not in steam and is not propelling itself, all steam engines make that noise as they are being towed because the pistons are still being moved and compressing the air inside the cylinders.

2nd. this clearly did work, although the truck does only weigh 1/2, maybe 3/4 ton at a push, the train only ways about 150 - 200 and yes the tires do slip somewhat, but it still got it going!

3rd. Well I agree with you on that one, thats bullshit

  • @Qmann98 Though your right, ive town a diesel loco with a chevy astro van. It doesn't take power to move it, it takes traction. Its still stupid because it doesnt advertise the power of the vehicle. Mind you though the astro van only had 2x4. This is a 4x4 which makes this even more pathetic.

  • 1st off. You can hear that the engine is running and propelling it self.

2nd. This would not ever work because the truck weighs probably 1/2 ton and the train weighs 1000 tons so the tires would just slip.

3rd. Quacker1 that could never work, 20 people could not do that much less 1, if that were possible then we'd just tie a horse to it

  • Auto box would be destroyed if it had to do this every day. Manual low range would be better for the truck.

  • @trankston chuck norris would not need a truck

  • Why is this not available in the US? This is why Americans are buying foreign cars even if not made in the US as most fords are foreign made any way. But how can an "American" car maker deny the US such a nice truck.

  • 0:42 real salesman this one, could sell ice to an eskimo lol

  • bring it to the US!

  • Big Deal! My brother stood between the engine and tender of Reading 2102 and pulled them together with his bare hands! Rolling resistance is the key.
