TSO Prelude to Madness Live - 2008 Winter Tour

The Trans-Siberian Orchestra performing their song "Prelude to Madness," live at their Sunrise, FL concert as part of their 2008 Winter Tour.

Again, as with my other TSO videos, please excuse any erratic camera angles and "fangirl" screaming. My friend and I had second row seats, and this was our first TSO concert. Please forgive us for being a tad excited. ^_^;

I thought that "Believe" was a brilliant choice of a tribute song for Criss Oliva, though the entire concert was simply amazing. I would have recorded it as well, but my battery was low, and I had my fingers crossed that they would play "Beethoven," haha. Turns out they never did. *sighs*

God.. I cannot describe how much I love TSO and Savatage both. No doubt my favorite bands ever. I've seen TSO 9 years in a row, and it just gets better and hell would I love to see Savatage.

Nine years in a row?? How awesome! With any luck, I'm hoping to go every year from now on here, too. Although this was my first TSO concert, I've tried to make it to them for about four years now. It was everything I had expected and then some. =]

It's from Savatage's Hall of the Mountain King. It's based on a composition by Edvard Grieg for Henrik Ibsen's play Peer Gynt. I knew it was based on a classical piece but no I didn't know those names off the top of my head :-) Hearing this makes it easy to see how Savatage became TSO.

Prelude to Madness is a song by the band Savatage from the album Hall of the Mountain King. And the TSO is a side project of Savatage. and this song is to honor the memory of Savatage's ex-lead guitarist Chris Oliva who died in the early 1990's in a drunk driving accident. so never forget Chris Oliva cause he was a major factor in TSO's creation.

...pretty sure that Chris Caffery rips peoples faces off everytime that He plays, b\c of his god-aweful crazy face metling solos. Like this one, and the one that He plays every year at the end of "the Fifth", and the flames were a nice touch to the whole show as well. I am sure that Mr.Chris Oliva would be proud!

The very beginning part you're talking about is based off the beginning of Gustav Holst's Mars, Bringer of War.

I seriously doubt Diamond Head (and Metallica, since they covered "Am I Evil?") and Savatage (and TSO) are the only metal bands to have ever used that part. Actually, I'd be shocked if they were.

I wish TSO would hurry up and release the 'Night Castle' cd they've been promising for the last couple years. Sadly I didn't get to see TSO this year, but I've seen them 3 times before this year. Chris has been hinting lately that they might be getting a new Savatage album out too. I'm praying to the Heavy Metal Gods. LOL That would be the double whammy of all double whammies!
