I'm 22 and I'm not nearly as mature or well-put together as Kate was at this age. Then again, that's kind of an unrealistic precedent. She's always been a class act. :)

Pssh, Dench should have won easily. Winslet was excellent, but Dench was just brilliant.
Of course, freaking Helen Hunt won...

kate played rose with utter believability, that is why IMO the millions of women around the world were heartbroken, not because a man had died, but a man who had this life changing effect on this woman had been taken away from her, her performance in the 'warm' tank set on the piece of wood in 4ft of water is the upmost that an actor can portray, her piece where she rolls off the raft to the whistle is extraordinarily acted, the shivers, the movement - and of course that soul in here eyes.

the character roses transformation is huge and tbh the title of best actress should have gone to the actress which showed most range, and i believe kate did that, when watching titanic at the bit where they are being chased by the wall of water down the deck i keep thinking, this character was the spoilt bratty one who stepped out of the car and turned her nose up at the worlds biggest ship, now she is being this heroin!!!

It's a shame that Kate didn't win. Helen Hunt was good. All the other nominees were good too, But, Rose DeWitt Bukater is her most iconic role and she really was great in her transformation.
Oh well, I guess. She became the most famous actress in the world. She has her place in film history. I guess that's more than enough.
