You should try doing this into a didgeridoo!

this video is genius. but it's probably the most terrifying thing i've yet encountered on youtube.

nice video .. regarding evolution have you read S Mithens The Singing Neanderthals, i think you would like it a lot. Regarding hair, i personally think that lack of a beard would improve resonant face/room reflections and may improve harmonic responses....lol

my ears started ringing during the practice (ear nose throat thing?)
-
I have a question: How long do I have to grow my beard to achieve optimum resonance?

Gidday Peter, excellent video loved it. Great free form single shot, it matches the vocal work. Nice.

I am a didgeridoo player. I once tried to get on 'Red Faces' by playing didg, then taking the instrument away and continuing to play. It wasn't stupid enough, so I failled the audition.

My beard exists because I haven't changed myself from my nature into the parody that is 'shaved monkey'. By not modifying myself, I access the wisdom hardwired into us by evolution. Harmonic singing is perfection of human sound and requires training the brain to hear the sound rather than just translate the language. Harmonic singers return the listening part of the brain to its presets that existed before symbolic language.

I have been told by a voice teacher that I should update my terminology to accord with the current jargon. So vocal chords become vocal folds and false chords or the muscle part of the voice become ventricular folds.
By the way, I am a medical imaging technologist so before I became a harmonic singer I studied acoustic physics and did cross sectional xrays of voice boxes in 1983-4. I had also had a years practice in didgeridoo

@thevoiceharmonic very interesting technique...(completly opposite of the tongue tech I use for singing) I like the sound and the resonance very cool very primative feeling and soothing. as a voice teacher myself, I say keep the simple terminology, everyone needs a chance to learn . You had a very interesting job, are there any nuggets of insight, about the mechanics of the voice box, you might be willing to share? thanks for posting your talent.

@Ising4u333 I spend very little time worrying about breathing techniques. For me, I just need to regulate the way air moves through the voice box to create the sound - how much, what pressure and what tension it encounters. Once in the throat, it has a length by itself or combined with the mouth to create timbre. A lot of my semi-formal singing is with the maximum throat length as it is the maximum emotion. I can even sing tunes only using changes to the throat length. Explore the unknown
