It's because Umbrella didn't want their employees to escape if ever there was a viral outbreak. Umbrella did it on purpose. Once a person would try and use the axe against the glass, they would realise that Umbrella had done this deliberately to them.

I liked Resident Evil: Apocalypse the best, because Jill was in it, and I loved how raw and real Alice was, and the action, to me, was the best! Cannot wait for Retribution to come out!!!

People are really pissing me off about movies. Why do they have to put a movie on t.v. that's edited by them? Seriously,leave the Resident Evil movies alone! They're ruining it for other people! I still don't understand something from the beginning of the movie. Remember when the lab worker grabbed the axe to smash the glass, but he could not because the glass was reinforced? but why is the axe there if uou can't even smash the glass lol? is it to kill the person who has fucked your wife or something...? I really don't understand...

@SgtRaybo If you watched the Movie(s), then you'll find that the virus was simply to revive corpses, and place in their minds only the simplest thoughts and needs.
