The Red Wheelies conquer Hadrians Wall

The trailblazing women of the Red Wheelies became the first group to complete the Hadrian's Wall challenge on mobility scooters. The nine- strong team started the jaunt on May 11 and crossed the finish line 11 days later, raising money for the Kent MS Therapy Centre in Canterbury. All the women have MS, eight of the nine are grandmothers, two celebrate their ruby wedding anniversaries this year, three will turn 60 before the end of 2009 and between them they boast a combined age of 542. The team completed the pioneering adventure on Quingo Sport mobility scooters. They began their journey at Wallsend, travelling through Hexham and Brampton before passing through Rickerby Park in Carlisle and embarking on the last leg of their journey, which ended in Bowness- on-Solway.
