Is it fair to lose your livelihood when companies lose nothing? Companies can downright lie and ruin your career. We have no protection. We need to abolish AT WILL and replace it with the same protection that companies have for themselves. If there is protocol to get hired there should be protocol to be fired. Just say NO to AT WILL. Where do I sign up for that?

I agree with this video 100%

@auburn722 Well, there are ways to prove discrimination, even though no one admits it.
eHow has an article on "how to prove employment discrimination," if you'd care to go read it.
If you were even so much as treated differently without any clear reason, that will, at least, provoke an EEOC investigation, which is MUCH more likely to bear fruit than if you did it on your own.
you are wrong, buddy..in a free market, you are free to do as you please...anyway if u get Fired, you can apply for unemployment..its up to them to prove misconduct..as long as there is none, youre in

@TheHAMMER77777 Maybe in a free market, that's true, but this isn't a 100% entirely free market.
I take it your a libertarian. However, your argument is based on the assumption that we live in a 100% entirely free market, which we don't.

you were speaking with so much passion and i feel every word you said. jus yesterday i was fired at my job (COIT CLEANERS, BURLINGAME, CA) because a manager was very disrespectful, rude and loud with me for no good reason. i did the same to her in return and next thing you know. your fired! she wasnt fired or anything. i never knew an employer could do this. this is wrong! i have bills to pay and unemployment aint goin to cover it all. this is another reason why cali has a high unemployment rate

@DWES415 Ok, if you smarted off to the boss, I have no sympathy for you. The fact that she was rude to you, first, means nothing. Don't cross the boss.

@dstebbin so you will say its ok for your boss to talk to you any way he/she wants? she talks down to everyone and has many times. im not sayin i was right but she was in the wrong too. how come they didnt fire her also? i did great work there. i never got loud or anything with her, just let her know where i stand with her being like that towards me. i was there for 2 years and naver got written up and never disrespected anyone. you dont see an issue what that situation?

@DWES415 The difference is that she has the bargaining power.
Hey, if you were in the army, and your drill sergeant talked to you that way, would you STILL talk back?
You're an adult, now. Act like one. Learn to hold your tongue.

@DWES415 I just did some research, and there might be a silver lining for you.
It's not discrimination, per se, but it IS a hostile work environment!
Read about it on Wikipedia and talk to lawyer about it tomorrow. It's pretty vague and can constitute just about any kind of hostility.
