always loved this song.

there were always 100 male singers i could relate to much more strongly than women singers. but this singer? always thought she was among the best, man or woman.

i remember thinking, even at a young age when i first heard this song, that it was a bit strange that i felt an affinity for her, her voice, her sentiment.

I don't think it's very strange, it just reminds me of drag performers lip syncing, and that's not strange. Perhaps another reason this reminds me of that is your lips- they look like they've been done a bit. I do this in the mirror all the time, a lot of time to male singers, because guys make awesome songs that have great lyrics too :)
