I was there myself. Floyd had all kinds of technical problems and Rick Wright could not use his Hammond organ. What you ear him play it is a Farfisa kbd that was a last minute replacement. Also, The Great Gig in The Sky vocals were disappointing. But in the end it was an epic event. Did I mention the once-in-a-lifetime traffic jam? Pure insanity. We had to camp in the cold and damp night totally unprepared for it and managed to leave only in the morning.
I was at Knebworth in 1975 with my mate Paul - the first and last time I camped at a rock festival. I was there just to see Pink Floyd. Their music still sounds as fresh today as it was then. And I wasn't stoned. Seems like it was just yesterday and not 35-years ago.
Walking back to the camp site at Knebworth early hours of the morning 6th July 1975 a guy in front of my mate Ade and I turned to his girlfriend and said" One day I will tell my grandkids that I saw Floyd at Knebworth. We have often laughed when we recall that comment...its usually after we have been telling our offspring about that memorable one off beautifull day.
This was the finest concert I ever went to,my brother has the photos.
Shine on you crazy diamond,Wish you were here, have a cigar, raving+droolin,You gotta be crazy,Complete Dark side of the moon+Echoes for an encore.
They came on stage just as the sun sank below the horizon+2 Spitfires swooped over the place. The visual display was totally awesome, like no other since.
@JuanLoftyboy Um post the photos, those would be worth their weight in gold today ;)
