I am an ELCA Lutheran from South Carolina. I play the piano and organ. Yesterday (November 3) was All Saints Sunday. We sang this as our Hymn of the Day. It is #424 in Evangelical Lutheran Worship in the Festivals, Commemorations section. Just thought I'd share.
Vaughan Williams (my favorite classical composer) wrote the setting/harmony, but
the melody Laast Uns Erfreuen dates to the 17th c.
