I know a three year black belt who is on his way down to the local police authority's to register hiomself as "a lethal weapon".... Like come on what is this? So much of what I see makes a farce out of this martial art. There is a level of maturity and strength you must reach befor you are truely a "master", There are on real shotokan black belt testing kumite sparring matches which you must pass even if your kata is perfect.I'm all about respectt but come on!!!

i dont agree with this. he's too young. a black belt means that you are a master. it means that a student. can now be a teacher. im sure this kid wont be teaching classes any time soon.

This was just 2 months ago, so still recommended Black Belt but his goal is to test for his Certified 1st Degree in June 09. His mother is testing for 3rd Degree and Father for 5th at the same test.
