This is a three minute short film made for the final assessment of Semester 1 at Holmesglen Institute of Technology, Bachelor of Screen Production degree.
Written, Directed and Starring Kieran Wheeler, Director of Photography and Edited by Joe Betros, Camera Assist by Dario Espinosa and Gaffer (Lighting) by John Hutchins.
Also starring Sarah Wheeler and Sessa

*Sorry for the major widescreen. Had a few compression issues.*

'Dreams' has no digetic audio, the film is an experimentation with the theory of 'show-don't-tell; editing techniques and particular camera shots.
It follows the story of a man who has had a premonition of his girlfriends attack and also his own death, and must decide whether to save her or not.

I hope you enjoy it. Please feel free to comment, and please subscribe :)

  • @PhoenixFireProd what effect did you use at 1:34? Terrific video by the way

  • @RoetmanBOMB

We did not use an effect in post at 1:34. It's what's called a dolly-zoom... except we didn't use a dolly, it was all hand held. Basically it's when you move towards the subject with the camera which zooming out at the same time.

Thanks for your comments mate :)

  • @PhoenixFireProd Thanks! I'll be finished with the film late next year but I'll be sure to send you a link if I remember! :)

  • @imoffagainmyworld Thank you, that's awesome. Be sure to send us a link when you are completed. Good luck with it all.

  • @PhoenixFireProd You're welcome :) I have just started working on a short film for school based on dreams and what reality is so I was watching this for inspiration haha :)

  • @imoffagainmyworld Thanks. Glad you liked it :)

  • @deathman113 It was shot in wide format. The compression made it 2.35 I think. This was the first video I made at film school so wasn't too familiar with what I was doing. lol.

  • I love the twist ending at 3:06 :D
