i think what he means by nothing player is , if you listen to the english media they would have you belive gerrard is one of the greatest players in football history hes a one man team , paul merson called him the best player in the world on soccer saterday , total bullshit , what dumphy means is when we remember the greats of the game pele best maradona messi ronaldo 9 xavi iniesta zidane van basten cruff ronaldinho , gerrard is nothing in those terms , not that hes a nothing player in general

@BasicsFan If you,re telling me you never saw a Premiership match on Sky Sports well thats fair enough , my bad , but all im asking is how can you call someone that has never given a world class display for his country a world class player ? @BasicsFan once again you havent got a clue , Xavi was in the Barcelona team long before Iniesta or Messi and won the champions league when the others were not first team regulars, He has been Spains best midfielder for going on 12 years now and he has got some competition there , Gaerrard has hardly even had a good let alone great game for hes country but oh wait he scored 2 vrs Hungary, not exactly running the show in 3 Champions league , a European Championship , and World Cup finals is it ?

@EricCartman1st really heard much about xavi for the last 3-4 years&the question was if gerrard is one of the world greatest players and i came up with that argument that he can fill more positions than xavi can..thats makes a better player and also he played outstanding football for liverpool over a decade!

and the only abilitys xavi has got are passing, skill and control.

steven gerrards abilitys are pace,skill,control,passing(esp­acilly long range),crosses,shooting&defend­ing.

@BasicsFan that has to be the most retarded statement ive ever read , the whole argument is who is the best CENTRAL midfield player in the world , not who can fill in on the right or left or behind a striker , by that twisted logic John O Sea is the best player in the world , hes played left right and center back , defensive central right and left midfield and even in goals , and to say Xavi has only been good for 3 years shows your complete lack of knowledge of other leagues .
