  • yes highly beneficial , but far from easy Just finished my 4th 10 day vipassana retreat and I feel like a total beginner. Shocking what pops up each and every time. Still the best gift one can give to oneself. I reccommend everyone to just do it.

  • @shanna1950 Totally agree. Even if you do it and decide it's not for you, at least you will have learned something new about yourself from the contrast.

  • * from this experience, however I find it hard to really put to use in everyday life.

I have a feeling what happened to me is very similar to what people recount after a Vipassana meditation retreat. Therefore I'd be very interested to know more about how it (worked out / is working out) for you...

    Best wishes!

    David

  • @sanangoful Hi again David. As I said below, it is a challenge to implement because we would so much rather go with immediate comfort even though it is so illusory and a cheap sell out for the joy that comes from committing ourselves to daily practice. One of the principles taught however is that this is a lifelong course so as long as one does not give up one continues to expand enormously which is what I have found to be the case. Marcus

  • Thanks for the vid Marcus!

I was wondering... now that over half a year has past, do you still feel the transformations that you felt after the retreat or have they faded away? To what extent have you been able to make the changes you were talking about after the retreat?

I have never tried Vipassana but I spent a year with chamans in the Amazon and I did several 10-day retreats alone in the jungle, taking plants that teach you about yourself and the world around you.

    I definitely gained a lot

  • @sanangoful Hi, one notices most of the benefits directly after the course and it is is not really possible to experience these to the same degree when you return to "every day living". It is very important to practice what you are taught on the course every day but it is challenging as we so easily want to resist what comes up during meditation sessions. I would also say that it is imperative to go back once a year and do a course which is what is recommended anyway. Amazing transformations!

  • From my study, I do believe that Vipassana has merit and is worth the work. I do feel that 10 days may be similar to trying to fit a quart of water into an 8oz. glass. I certainly would not attend as my initial experience. At the very least do some reading on the subject. I particularly enjoyed several books written by Henepola Gunaratana. After reading, "Mindfulness in Plain English." I find it difficult to imagine packing this into 10 days. Just my 2 cents.

  • @MarcusBakerVideos - YEP!

  • @nitinrough76 Hi I am sure the 20 day course would be very beneficial so will try that next I think.

  • hi...which place/organisation offer the Vipassana meditation course?

  • Namaste
