I think this commercial is supposed to be a look at styling trends that Cadillac introduced and not necessarily "milestones", at least not engineering milestones.

Great commercial, no question there. These types of commercials which compare classic cars with modern ones rarely work though, the idea is to show how much Cadillac's new models have evolved and improved over their previous ones. Only problem is that it leaves viewers wanting the classic Cadillac's because of their style and character which is missing in the new cars, no matter how much better they are. This is why 'This is not your father's Oldsmobile' campaign failed.

Wrong music!! The real commercial used PunkRocker by the TeddyBears with Iggy Pop and made the commercial in my mind.

@xtreme01hac10docter a mighty fine car ! and highly underrated IMO, i`ve talked to some who own or have owned them here in germany, all of them were completely pleased and enormously surprised about how much car they actually got in the form of the STS, those who have owned comparable full size german lux-sedans said the STS it at least on par with german makes, and the fact that you can get an STS for way less money makes them a winner overall.

The Allante was made from 1987 so how did they skip over the 80's? And the humpback was really an 80's car. Just because it was designed in the 70's doesn't mean it was sold in the 70's. The XLR was probably being designed in the 90's by sketchartists so does that mean it's a 90's car?

@liddlebopeep How true! I still haven't recovered from that godawful Chevy Cavalier "Cimarron". You would've thought GM would have learned from the Ford fiasco of the 70's, where they took a Granada and did a slapdash trim job and called it a Lincoln Versailles! I'll never forget our neighbor back then who bought one of those Cimarrons and traded it in at a big loss because she was tired of people telling her what a "nice Chevy" she had!

@liddlebopeep OK? The 80s Seville and Allante..they skip over alot..over 100 years..so give them a break...hell they pass over there 1992 car of the year so...
