I read Arthur C. Clarke's book of 2001: a space odyssey which is a little different because he used pyramids as the monoliths instead of what Kubrick used! There were a lot of similarities in the book and movie. Read the book first and then see the movie, because they movie is so deep! I saw it when it came out in 1968 and I was a just 15 years old then and didn't the secrets of the movie that Kubrick was sending out!
