What temperatures and times are you using for hardening and tempering?

@9000zike hardening 850 degrees C for 30 minutes and then quench in 70 degre oil, tempering is 2 hours in 180 C

Is that a whole plate of high carbon steel? I've never seen that before

@SHANDYBOY86 sunflower is smelly, its better becouse motor oil smoke while trating may cause cancer and it's too dense

Very nice work....I must get a belt sander.....Trying to do it with just hand tools is very slow and time consuming.....

@Trollskyy Oh cheers! Are there any advantages of using sunflower oil over say motor oil?

@SHANDYBOY86 its sunflower oil, if i want to have only edge quenched i use clay or making "edge quenching" - i'll try to show that method in next movie

What oil do you use for quenching? and how do you make the back of the blade softer without making the whole blade soft?
