New York Habitat http://www.nyhabitat.com is back with the 2nd part of the central park video tour in NY. RIn the first part, we took you to some great places like Bethesda Terrace and the Central Park Zoo. Make sure to check the first part of this video tour of Central Park http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=220sIrfOxoM by New York Habitat.

Now, let's discover some new attractions in Central Park :

The Bow Bridge:
There are 36 bridges in Central Park, and not one of them is alike. Bow Bridge is one of the most photographed and filmed locations in Central Park. Completed in 1862, it is constructed of cast iron.

Strawberry Fields: -- West Side between 71st and 74th Streets
We're at Strawberry Fields. Just across the street is the Dakota Apartment Building where John Lennon was shot in December 1980. After Lennon's death, Yoko Ono donated money to have this small corner of the park dedicated in his honor. It's one of the more popular spots in the park, so you'll want to come pay a visit.

Belvedere Castle: - Mid-Park at 79th Street
Perhaps the most magical monument in Central Park, the Belvedere Castle provides a panoramic view in almost every direction. You'll get great views of the Delacorte Theater, the recently restored, 55-acre Great Lawn and Turtle Pond.

Delacorte Theatre: - Mid-Park at 80th Street
The Delacorte Theatre is the summer home of the annual Shakespeare in the Park production. Home to the very popular Shakespeare in the Park series, thousands of theatre lovers come here every year.

The next best thing to being in Central Park is living near Central Park. For your next trip to New York, consider renting one of our many apartments http://www.nyhabitat.com/new-york-apartment.html in New York. You'll have quick access for an early morning stroll through the Park or prepare a lunch in your fully equipped kitchen for a mid-day picnic.
A great apartment just a stone's throw from Central Park is this beautiful two bedroom accommodation located in an Upper West Side building with roof terrace (NY-1313) http://www.nyhabitat.com/new-york-apartment/vacation/1313 .
If you'd like a bit of a view of the park, consider this Upper West Side vacation rental studio ½ block away (NY-12377) http://www.nyhabitat.com/new-york-apartment/vacation/12377 . This cute studio sleeps 3 and is a great value for the money.

New York Habitat can help you finding furnished rentals http://www.nyhabitat.com/new-york-apartment/furnished or vacation rentals http://www.nyhabitat.com/new-york-apartment/vacation all over New York City.

Summerstage:
I've mentioned this before in other videos, but it's worth repeating, one of the best summer events in New York is a string of free concerts from June through August. The event is called Summerstage and it's held in the heart of Central Park.

Great Lawn: - Mid-Park from 79th to 85th Street
This area is called the Great Lawn. It's another one of my favorite parts of Central Park. The New York Philharmonic gives two free performances here every year. There are 8 permanent baseball fields. You'll find kite flyers, sunbathers, book readers and more.

Turtle Pond: -- Mid-Park between 79th and 80th Streets
What's nice about Turtle Pond, besides all the turtles, is that this area is a designated quiet zone -- making it a great place to relax, read or take a quick nap! And come on, who doesn't like turtles!?

The Obelisk: -East Side Drive at 81st Street
The Obelisk, or Cleopatra's Needle, is the oldest public monument in North America. Installed in 1881, it was a gift from the Egyptian government. It's amazing to think that this was built in Heliopolis around 1500 BC!

Central Park Reservoir: -- Main entrance to the Reservoir: 90th St. and 5th Ave
This is the Central Park Reservoir. It's probably best known now as home to the 1.58 mile running track that surrounds it. You've probably seen it in tons of movies.

Alice in Wonderland:
Probably the park's most beloved sculpture, it is a depiction in bronze of a group of our favorite characters from Lewis Carroll's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland.

  • Hi,i'm coming to visit NY in few days, and i love animals,i'm sure i will come to central park ,i just wanted to ask,is it available to take pics while being really close to the animals there or not.. ?

  • @Ramy1Scofield Thank you for your comment!

Central Park is definitely a must-see in New York, it’s a good thing you included it in your “places-to-visit” list!

Indeed, there are many animals in Central Park, from squirrels to birds.

The good news is that you can get close to the animals, but many of them are wild, and may be difficult to approach (or may require time)!

On the other hand, you can also see many animals at the Central Park Zoo :)

Let us know if you have any other question ;)

  • I've just watched this and the first video about Central Park and neither one mentioned horseback riding through the park.

    Don't they have that anymore?

  • @1tryingtoimprove Hi! Thanks a lot for your comment.

Horseback riding is still available in Central Park! You will find many people selling horseback tours directly at almost every entrance of Central Park (especially around 59th St.). The prices may vary depending on the season of the year, the tour company you choose or the time of the day! :)

  • Central Park is beautiful!

  • @newyorkcitylatinguy Thank you for your comment :)

We couldn’t agree more with you, Central Park really is beautiful; whatever the season the year, there’s always something special about this place!

  • @CaliHco86 Central Park is pretty all year round. It certainly is worth seeing in the winter (especially if there's snow). I hope you ventured in. Though I cannot post a link to my photography here, you can see it on my channel: Ken1Nickels1

    and on flickr.com, /photos/kennickels

  • @CaliHco86 Hey there! Thanks for your message! During spring and summer Central Park is of course more colorful and green but running there is always a great experience, even in the winter time. Lots of runners enjoy it even during the colder months! Feel free to contact us if you have other questions :)

  • @shoelesst2 That is fantastic! There is no better source then :)

Please feel free to share your knowledge of Central Park with our viewers. Central Park is indeed one of the preferred attraction of visitors renting vacation rentals in New York.

Thank you again for your input.

  • @NewYorkHabitat You are correct that the entire Great Lawn area is 55 acres. This area encompasses Turtle Pond, Delacorte Theatre and surrounding landscapes. The lawn of the Great Lawn itself is 13 acres. That being said, I think it is safe to leave the info as is.
