, caught them in 74 at the Long Beach Arena, loved the big hair and platforms, glam rock ahead of its time.

I have heard Paul Stanley of Kiss say that they were influenced by the New York Dolls.... I never realised that Stanley's whole image was a rip off of Johnny Thunder.

Miasblues - just interested - was/is Club 82 in NY? If so, was it a kind of rival of CBGB? Did it play a lot of NY undergound rock bands?

The NY Dolls used to play the Mercer Arts Center and Max's Kansas City. At this time Television had not yet started playing at CBGB's. Club 82 was an old club on Fourth Street near CBGB's that was supposedly known for drag queens. It was arranged for the NY Dolls to perform there and became a fashionable hang out. Not sure how long the scene at Club 82 lasted after CBGB's became the focal point.
