Try to find a TV station that signs off, I don't think there's any in the NJ/NY market. Sad really, I remember seeing those bars and tone as a kid...that meant I was up way past my bedtime.

pbs station in ft wayne used to sign off till the late 90s. they decided to stay on 24/7 though when comcast assigned another broadcaster to it's channel after pbs signed off, at which point it be all softcore porn. i didn't have cable back then though so never saw the boobies. but the pbs station aired a short spot explaning the whole thing for about a month

@huntr7777 yes, there is. they still do in some places. i know this much, because they still do it on one tv station that i watch. but they only sign off on the weekends around 2:00 am.
