Coxe had been speaking about being able to switch hands, and conversation naturally went to his December 1987 fight with John Kordic. His comments on Kordic's punching power in this fight are surprising.

Many comments here address this, so as the interviewer, let me point out a few things, mainly:

This clip is outside the context of the rest of the interview. Coxe didn't spare himself on the fact that he lost plenty of bouts. He told me exactly who punched hardest - in his experience, on the receiving end. He names Kocur, Brown, Crowder, and Fotiu. In the whole of the interview, Coxe is more self-depricating. He called himself 'lucky' in the Kocur win. He called his loss to Scofield 'embarrassing'.

See my clip 'Coxe on Joey Kocur' to get a more balanced opinion of Coxe. To see the entire transcript of the interview, go to HockeyFights.com via this link: http://www.hockeyfights.com/forums/f27/craig-coxe-depth-123002/

  • Fantastic inverview!! I'd love to see the whole thing Coxie was a true gamer, always willing to go.

  • I'm a huge fan of both John Kordic and Craig Coxe. But Craig Coxe did take off his helmet when he battled John Kordic. Plus, even though Coxe did get busted open by Kordic and was the one to somewhat go down first, I feel that the fight was almost dead even. But I must say, that I'm surprised that Coxe would actually bash a fellow enforcer, especially John Kordic who was one of the best! God Bless You John Kordic!

  • One of the Vancouver Canucks' first American born players. Craig Coxe. He was known for his fists than his scoring ability. Most memorable fight I remember was with the late Bob Probert on the Detroit Red Wings in 1985. Coxe and Probert went at it for five non-stop minutes.

  • good to see you Brother.

  • @NHLbrawler Totally Kordic>Coxe. Coxe's big claim to fame was getting tuned by Probert multiple times.

  • @SuperStrik9 -- i totally agree... Kordic was way more feared than Coxe.

  • Too bad Kordic isn't alive to defend himself. I think John hurt Coxe more than he'll admit and Craig can't deal with the fact Kordic "with his soft punches (what a load of bullshit that is!)" beat him. Any fighter should know you win some you lose some. I have more respect for the guy that can admit defeat over the guy that's full of excuses.

  • Kordic was a way better scrapper and was miles tougher than Craig ''the punching bag'' Coxe.

  • Here is the question. If what Coxe says is true, then why did he go down in the fight with Kordic? Watch a replay. Kordic, dings him, he looks rattled, then after another blow, he finally goes down and it isn't from a loss of balance.

As for going to the dressing room? So what? A lot of fighters do that or have done that. Kordic won the fight and his so called 'punches without power' certainly put Coxe on the ice.

  • a lil cut lol. he was bleeding like a stuck pig. kordic kicked his ass

  • @tijack13 Probert's dead, so one down two to go, tjack. You should play fantasy hockey Deadpool!
