@ml1062 one of my favorite memories growing up was sitting on the tailgate of my grandmom's station wagon w/ my feet dangling while riding around Florida on vacation. I lost alot of toys on I95 that way. My dad to this day won't wear a seatbelt (nor did my grandfather ever wear one his entire life) and refuses to let me wear one if he's driving. Thankfully wearing a seatbelt has saved my ass enough times that i never drive without one.

@CamaroAmx Lived it. I was born in the early 60's so I'm gonna guess that I've seen worse. Kids riding in the package trays of cars, stores selling firecrackers to kids with only a handwritten note from "their parent"...and so on. Did all that stuff !!

@ml1062 people weren't so hog wild on safety like they are today. There was no baby-proofing your house. there was lead paint everywhere. kids got real bows and arrows (like what Ted Nugent has) when they were 5. I was born in the early 80s and dealt with all of these things. We actualy had a 500lbs TVs on a TV tray. My dad's guns were loaded and not locked up. My house had lead paint and asbestos galore. I had a real bow and arrow set when I was 6 and had constant access to it.

@wonspot1 And seatbelt laws weren't really enforced until the early 90's, even though seatbelts came out in 66 on Volvos. I know alot of older people who still refuse to wear seatbelts due to some horrible story or incedent about a seatbelt killing somebody. 2 most popular stories were car flipped and the seatbelt prevented the driver from getting out before being burned to death or hit a vehicle head-on and the setbelt held the driver's body but head and neck went forward and broke their neck.

@DiscoveryLegend or just hav a whole bunch of sex in the car without making any babies. that way you will have more time for driving and sex in the car. :)
