Ike had them girls TIGHT...right on the one!

man could she sing

@stridb True--Phil Spector didn't want Ike meddling with his concept. The song basically flopped upon release in the US (big hit tho in the UK) and Spector got understandably disheartened. But here, Ike's guitar is prominent. Strangely, perhaps, Turner discounted his guitar skills, considering himself a pianist.

Ike was only name on the cover, but recorded by Tina alone.

TINA ROCKED .. THEN and SHE ROCKS NOW! SHE UNLEASHES THE FIRE POWER .. of SOUL!

I am not sure what year exactly this performance took place, but if you look closely at Tina's mouth, you will notice her jaws are swollen. Her mouth seems padded with cotton wool... It would only be years later, that she lets the world know, that before several performances Ike would beat her senseless, breaking bones in her body, including those in her face.

What a performance!
What a great voice!
And this in 1971...
I want to see this 4 girls today in one of todays casting shows - the audience will collapse...

And to think Ike crazy ass wrote all off this great shit! What a fucking looney ass genius!!
For all those interested in that period of Ike & Tina, I can recommend the comp "Funkier Than A Mosquito's Tweeter" - it doesn't include any of the really big well-knowns, but in terms of hot funk it's way up there with James Brown's best, adding some of Ike's pop sensibility and groovy arrangements
